Seek, and ye shall find

"Jesus, the promised help supply,
Support the feeble, fainting mind,
Nor let me in the winter fly,
But seek till I acceptance find,
But ask, till I am saved from sin,
And knock, till mercy takes me in."

- Charles Wesley

  1. I find the fact that two brothers, John and Charles, could be so different in temperment and communication, and yet be so talented and divinely inspired.

  2. I too am amazed at Charles Wesley's talent. For the first time in my life, I am going through the Methodist hymnal that John Wesley compiled. This is a treasure trove that is organized by the order of spiritual awakening beginning with "Prayers for Repentance" and a section entitled "For Mourners convinced of Sin." I find my heart cry in several verses found in these sections. I have two more quotes from these hymns that I need to get posted before they start piling up. Part of the idea behind this website is to give my children an idea of what their father believed. However, I am tempted to delete the political posts in order to not taint the religious posts. I just need to give it more thought.

  3. As you ponder which direction to go with the blog, I am wondering if working your way through John Wesley's sermons and Charles Wesley's hymns as topics for set periods of time, would provide opportunity for learning and discussion. Sort of an online Sunday School class to attempt an answer to the question "what is truth?".
